Terms of Service
LAST UPDATED: 2026-09-07
IN PLAIN ENGLISH
- DRFT listens for words you pick — your name, a project, a topic — and flags them when they come up in calls, meetings, or the room around you. Free and DRFT+ tiers, on iPhone and Mac.
- You're responsible for following recording and consent laws where you live. DRFT listens to ambient audio (and on Mac, to audio from other apps). Tell participants when it's on if your jurisdiction requires it.
- DRFT+ is a one-time purchase — yours forever. No subscription, no renewal, no trial. Apple handles the payment; the current price is shown in the app and on the App Store.
- No warranty — detection isn't perfect, AI summaries aren't perfect. Use DRFT as a helper, not a court reporter.
- The full terms below are the binding ones. This summary is here for clarity, not as a substitute.
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using DRFT (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you don’t agree, don’t use the App.
2. What DRFT does
DRFT is a wake-word listener for iPhone and Mac. You pick the words that matter — your name, a project code, a topic — and DRFT alerts you when those words come up in calls, meetings, or conversations happening around you. AI-generated summaries are a DRFT+ feature and are generated on your device by Apple Intelligence.
On iPhone, DRFT uses the device microphone to hear what is audible in the room — designed for speakerphone calls and in-person conversations, not a direct tap into the call line. On Mac, DRFT uses Core Audio process taps to capture the audio output of other applications on your system (Zoom, Teams, Meet, etc.) — no microphone is involved and no screen content is accessed. On both platforms, speech recognition runs on-device. Audio is processed in real time and discarded immediately — never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
3. Free and DRFT+ tiers
DRFT offers 2 service tiers:
- Free — Up to 3 wake words; up to 10 saved moments; on-device notifications (same device); iPhone and Mac support. DRFT is ad-free on every platform and tier.
- DRFT+ — Unlimited wake words; unlimited saved moments; unlimited wake-word profiles; on-device AI summaries with Apple Intelligence; iCloud sync across your devices. Sold as a one-time purchase.
How wake words are counted. Wake words are one unified pool — there is no “default” versus “custom” distinction. On the Free tier every word you keep counts toward the 3-word limit; DRFT+ has no word limit. Every word is editable and deletable. Onboarding seeds your first wake words from the name you enter, but those words carry no special status afterward. Keeping zero wake words is a valid state. Wake-word profiles are DRFT+ only; a new profile starts empty, and the words in the active profile are the ones DRFT listens for.
Saved-moment limits. On the Free tier, when you reach the 10-moment cap, DRFT keeps the most recent moments and drops the oldest. DRFT+ keeps every saved moment. Detection itself is never limited — only how many saved entries are retained on the Free tier.
AI summaries. Summaries require DRFT+ and an Apple Intelligence–capable device with Apple Intelligence enabled. Where a device cannot run them, DRFT says so rather than offering an alternative path; there is no cloud fallback, and no ad-supported or rewarded unlock.
Feature availability and limits may change. We will communicate material changes through the App or this page.
4. Purchases and billing
DRFT+ is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase (com.bryancabrera.drft.plus) processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. It does not auto-renew, there is nothing to cancel, and there is no free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, and the current price for your storefront is shown in the app and on the App Store product page.
Price changes. The price of DRFT+ may change over time, and Apple also adjusts storefront prices for currency and tax. The price shown at confirmation of purchase is the price you pay. Because DRFT+ is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, a later price change never charges you again and never removes DRFT+ from an Apple Account that already owns it — a new price applies only to new purchases.
Restoring your purchase. DRFT+ is tied to your Apple Account. On a new device, or after reinstalling, use Restore Purchases in Settings (or on the paywall) to restore it.
Offer codes. From time to time we may issue App Store offer codes for DRFT+. Redeem Code on the paywall (iPhone and Mac) opens Apple's own redemption sheet; codes are created, validated, and redeemed by Apple, DRFT never sees the code itself, and a redeemed code grants the same one-time DRFT+ purchase, subject to whatever expiry or eligibility Apple attaches to it.
Legacy subscribers. DRFT previously sold monthly and yearly “DRFT Pro” subscriptions. Those products have been retired, are no longer for sale, and are no longer honored by the App: from version 2.0, an Apple Account that still owns one is on the Free tier until it buys DRFT+. If you still have an active DRFT Pro subscription, cancel it in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions so it does not renew.
Refunds. All refund requests are handled by Apple. DRFT cannot issue refunds. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
All purchases are subject to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement.
5. Recording consent & ambient audio — your responsibility
DRFT does not record calls in the traditional sense — it processes audio in real time solely for wake-word detection, and no audio is saved at any point. However, because DRFT listens to ambient audio (iPhone) and to the audio output of conferencing apps (Mac), those streams may include conversation content, which means monitoring and consent laws may apply.
On Mac specifically, Core Audio process taps can capture the audio output of apps including video-conferencing tools. That audio may include the voices of remote participants on a call. DRFT processes this audio transiently on-device and does not record or store it, but you should be aware that the audio is being processed for wake-word detection, and that a short transcript window around each detection is saved.
You are solely responsible for complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding audio monitoring and recording consent. This includes:
- Informing meeting participants when DRFT is active, if required by local law.
- Understanding the difference between one-party and all-party consent jurisdictions.
- Ensuring your use of DRFT complies with workplace policies and applicable regulations.
DRFT provides tools — it does not provide legal advice.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use DRFT to monitor conversations without required consent.
- Use the App for surveillance, harassment, or any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App.
- Redistribute, sublicense, or resell access to the App.
7. Intellectual property
DRFT, its design, code, branding, and related materials are owned by Bryan Cabrera. You retain ownership of any content generated through your use of the App (wake words, saved moments, summaries).
8. Third-party services
DRFT integrates with the following third-party services. Your use of DRFT is also subject to their respective terms:
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit & Key-Value Storage) — DRFT+ sync stores saved moments, wake words, and profiles in a private zone of your own iCloud account. Your name is stored in iCloud Key-Value Storage to seed your first wake words and keep them consistent across your devices (all tiers).
- Apple StoreKit — All purchase processing and entitlement state. DRFT never handles your payment instrument.
- Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models) — On-device generation of AI summaries. No summary content leaves your device.
- Vercel — Website (bryancabrera.xyz) hosting. No analytics, no cookies.
- Tally — Web feedback form (tally.so) opened from Settings → Feedback. Submissions governed by Tally's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare Workers and OpenAI (legacy only) — Used by the retired cloud summary path in App Store builds older than 2.0, which sent transcript text (≤256 words) but never audio. The current App does not contact either service. Governed by OpenAI's API data usage policies.
We are not responsible for the practices or availability of third-party services.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
DRFT is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that wake word detection will be 100% accurate, that AI summaries will be generated or error-free, or that the App will operate without interruption. Summary availability depends on Apple Intelligence, which is controlled by Apple and by your device's hardware and settings.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bryan Cabrera shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of DRFT, including but not limited to missed detections, inaccurate summaries, or legal consequences of unauthorized recording.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages. In those jurisdictions, this limitation applies only to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection laws that cannot be waived by contract.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to DRFT if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases, but provisions regarding liability, intellectual property, and dispute resolution survive.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the App or this page at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of DRFT after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Consumers in the EU, UK, and other jurisdictions retain any statutory rights granted by their local law that cannot be waived by contract.
